Reading that Oliver Tree died yesterday [time-zones might make that wonky by the time I post this] caught me a bit off-guard. I’m old enough now that several of my key authors and actors are dying of old[er] age but Tree was just 32 and I’m also old enough now that any news of a “younger person” dying just hits me funny.

I liked Oliver Tree’s music. Listened to it pretty regularly. He was one of the few artists whose interviews and such I actually would watch. He was generally a source of joy and several of his songs had a fair rotation in our house.

I got up this morning to watch his video for “Life Goes On” which is where a lot of fans seem to be hanging out. “I work all day, and then I wake up…”

But for me, I’m going to leave this video here, the first of his I ever saw and one that I ended up watching a few times to process…

“I’m no good at goodbyes…. love is like the circle, there’s no easy way to end.”
